It’s the 1-Year Anniversary of Budget Boss! So What’s Next?
Today is the one-year anniversary of the launching of my website, BudgetBoss.ca. During that year, I have evolved from a clueless, wide-eyed, shockingly handsome, budget maniac into a somewhat less-clueless, wider-eyed, less handsome, budget freak. So, as you can see, I am pretty much the same guy, but with a lot more knowledge and a great group of people following me on a regular basis. I am very grateful to everyone who reads what I put out on the regular. I know how busy everyone is and for you to take a bit of your day and spend it with me learning how to improve your finances, deeply humbles me. Going into this project, I had many, many plans for the future. The main plan was to reach as many people as possible and share my story of financial hardship and success. At the same time, I wanted to grow my business and I am proud to say over 250 amazing people are now valued, clients. You might be asking yourself, what’s next in the world of Budget Boss? On the 1-year anniversary of Budget Boss, I am going to give you a bit of a glimpse into what to look for in the future as we journey towards financial freedom. My hope is that everyone comes along with me on that journey.
New look website
As you may have noticed, the website had an upgrade overnight. With the help of my amazing friends at Six Five, we have updated the website to look a little fresher. I also wanted to make it easier for people to contact me and learn more about the services I provide as a financial advisor. My blog is now much easier to read, and the design is a lot easier on the eyes. Over time, the look of the site will change with the times and as we find things that could use an upgrade. Overall, I wanted to make sure that anyone who visits knows exactly what I do along with obtaining key resources. Speaking of resources, I will be launching a new resources section with amazing tools and tricks to help you on your financial journey. I love the new look and I am proud of Six Five for the great work they do.
Monthly Newsletter
I know it’s hard to keep up with all the content I have created, especially in our busy lives. Starting this month, I will be producing a monthly newsletter to highlight the most popular posts of the month and to also give people a recap of the month’s top financial trends. You can also see what I will be up to next including appearances, seminars, and events. This newsletter won’t be spammy and boring because I honestly hate crap like that too. It will be your chance to catch up on the world of Budget Boss and learn more about financial freedom. Sign up on the main page of the website, you won’t regret it!

Workshops
So far to date, I have held 3 amazing workshops. The first was on insurance and tax-preparation. In December I held one on financial goal-setting and in January it was all about investments and saving for the future. I loved every minute of them and plan on doing more in the future. Starting up again at the end of March, I will be holding another workshop on creating your own personal budget. In the months to follow, I will hold more workshops on various financial topics including insurance, investments, mortgages, retirement planning and much, much more. I love reaching people on a face to face level and I think the engagement is very useful for the learning process. If you have a chance, get out to one of the workshops. They are fun, educational and there are usually treats for everyone to enjoy!
Collaborations
Over the past year, I have met many amazing people in the financial industry. From real estate professionals to mortgage specialists, to accountants and lawyers. While I would like to think of myself as a very bright man, I also know I do not know everything. Therefore, I will be bringing in some special, smart people to show my audience some great information on important financial topics. I am lucky to have met some genuine, caring individuals and having them on board will expand my knowledge immensely. I hope it does the same for all of you!

Broadcasts
Last year I dabbled a bit in the Facebook Live World to give you my weekly broadcast on the previous week in Budget Boss. Soon that will be coming back but with a new format, new topics and a fresh new look. My goal is to have an interactive show where people can ask questions and have them answered in real time. Hopefully, this will give people the information they need to help them on their journey to financial freedom. We often know what we should be doing, we just want a second opinion on whether it is a good idea. I look forward to connecting with everyone in the future.

A Book?
I have been dabbling with the idea of organizing my content into a book. Over the past year, I have produced over 290 posts on personal finance and to deliver them in the form of a book would be a great way for people to get everything they need in one spot. I personally love reading books on personal finance and my goal would be to make it an easy read, so people can get the knowledge they need without being confused. I have learned since I joined the financial industry, that a lot of people like to make things more complicated then they ought to be. The topics aren’t tough so long as they are presented to you in an understandable fashion. It’s my goal to do that for my followers!

Last but not least…..
I want to take this time to thank everyone who follows me and has become part of the world of Budget Boss. Before I started this, I thought a long time about the reception I would receive. Would people not pay attention? Would people laugh or poke fun at my efforts to help others with their finances? Would all my efforts be fruitless in this endeavor? What I have learned is that there are so many people that are interested in bettering their personal financial situation and they are excited about the prospect of doing so. I have learned that good, common sense information on personal finance can be hard to come by and people appreciate that approach. I have learned that I am surrounded by some amazing people who have become friends over the past year. I am also lucky to have amazing friends from before the creation of Budget Boss who have supported me and given praise along the way. I can’t say how thankful I am for that. The life of the entrepreneur can be a lonely one. There are many solitary days and frustrating nights. Problems arise and sometimes the solutions are hard to come by. Having so many great people by my side is truly a blessing and for that, I am immensely thankful. My goal is to be a positive influence in these peoples lives as to pay them back for their amazing support.
Once again, thank you all for your support, encouragement, and feedback. Without you, there is no Budget Boss!
1 year down, many more amazing ones to come!
Peace and Love,
Joseph James Francis (but you can call me Joe)
