Friday Final Reflection: March 24, 2017

So much Damn Noise…Can we all just chill?

Another interesting week for me for sure. One key topic that I have to bring up is noise. We currently live in an environment that is just full of noise. This week, and previous ones, the most noise was about two topics. I like to call them the two “T’s.” I’m talking about Trudeau and Trump. Before I continue I will let you know this WILL NOT be a political post. Please don’t stop reading because I dropped those names.

No matter how you feel about either of those people I think everyone can agree that we are sick of all the anger and noise. Facebook has become a constant battle of political ideologies. It’s getting pretty gross. I want to take a moment to mention something that should be important to us all: community. With the people at the top doing things we may or may not like we sometimes forget something important. There are people in our neighborhood’s right now doing amazing things. Here are a few of them:

Mohamed Salih: Bringing a real, intelligent and caring voice to London’s City Hall.

Nicole Coenen: Dedicating much of her time to giving a voice to the LGBT community. A voice and a shoulder to lean on that aids youth dealing with difficult issues. A true gem.

John Andrew Fyfe-Millar: Dedicating much of his busy schedule to the betterment of London’s Downtown Core. An issue that may be the defining issue of our city’s future.

Peter Fragiskatos: London North Centre’s member of Parliament. Creating an open environment of inclusion where those in his constituency can voice their issues.

Kira Shields: Along with many others organized The London Beatles Festival. A great event that supported the Brain Injury Association of London and Region.

The Morrissey House and The Bungalow: Community involvement and a great work environment go hand in hand at these establishments. Tough to find in the restaurant industry.

Sienna Jae TaylorLore WainwrightMichelle Baldwin and countless others: For making Innovation Works London in Downtown London an amazing place to be. A place that fosters community involvement and caring. Truly second to none.

All the amazing mom’s out there. Shawna Leigh  Lorien FlynnCourtney Larocque Heather Sproule Phyllis Fidler Sasha Lee Julie Brown Chantel Antone just to name a few. Thanks for kicking ass every day.

SixFive Interactive: For bringing awareness to mental health issues. A topic that will, in my opinion, be the battle of significance for the next generation.

Christopher Campbell and Stacey Annatomy Porter : For donating their time and efforts during their amazing show FenyxFyre to numerous charities in the area.

I write this post to bring up one simple point. No government in power, no politician, no employer and no one can hold you back. In this environment of anger, it doesn’t matter if you wear a red or blue shirt. What matters is your community and what you have done to better it. Your community might be the whole world or just the people who live under your roof. Either way, we all have the power to better ourselves and help the people around us.

So when the noise gets loud here is what I do. I throw on some A Tribe Called Quest and turn my hat to the back. Drown all that garbage out. Thanks for reading my post, sorry it was this long, it kind of just happened. Sorry to those I left out as well. I am truly blessed to have so many amazing people in my life. See you next week with the “Monday Morning Money Moment.” Do yourself a favor and have some fun this weekend. Peace and Love.
